The G-DECK Environmental Unit has over 30 years experience in the US aerospace and defense sector. It has designed, developed, and successfully operates 12 CDR facilities in the USA, and provides design and operations support for many other facilities on defense industry sites. 

 

It has over 20 years of water treatment Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) experience. This includes technology selection and integration into existing PRC treatment systems.

 

The Operations team served under the same company in the U.S. aerospace defense sector for over 20 years, including projects with the Environmental Unit, and has over 20 years facilitating US-PRC technology cooperation. It has managed over $600M USD in strategic asset acquisitions and operations and continues to serve and cooperate with both US and PRC companies and governments at senior levels.

 

The Tech Transfer team has over 20 years directing US-China executive cooperation and training programs, including programs at Stanford and Tsinghua universities.

Jeff Leader

CEO

Twenty years of experience as an advisor on China trade issues to members of the US Congress, the US Department of State, and California State government, supporting US-to-China cooperation and technology transfer. His client portfolio includes U.S. defense and aerospace companies, environmental remediation, biotechnology, and energy interests. He is a program lecturer at Stanford University on US market entry, and technology acquisitions for Chinese companies. He has cooperated with PRC Ministries, including Foreign Affairs, Science and Technology, Commerce and others. He has a Juris Doctor degree in Law.

Chris Fennessy 

CTO

Over 25 years experience as strategic director to multi-disciplinary teams of engineers and scientists throughout soil and water investigation programs and implementing advanced remedial/corrective actions. As the Senior Environmental Engineering Manager at GenCorp, he leads water treatment technology development, selection, integration, facility system designs and construction, and management of all facilities operations and maintenance. In 20 years at GenCorp, he has led programs to optimize processes and evaluate and integrate new technologies. He holds a Masters Degree in Civil Engineering and is a licensed Professional Civil Engineer in California.

J.D. Roberts

President & COO

Thirty years of experience in the Aerospace and Defense industry, including leading technology capture and restricting through M&A and divestitures at Aerojet Rocketdyne Holdings, Inc. He managed over $600M in technology IP acquisitions and the divestitures of both the concentrating solar and terrestrial energy technology divisions at Aerojet Rocketdyne. Prior to that he led Corporate Strategy including strategic planning and marketing for GenCorp’s water remediation group in the U.S. and China. He has a Masters degree in Business Administration.

Wang Jie

Director, Curriculum Program

A Stanford Adjunct Professor and Executive Director of the Stanford Center for Sustainable Development and Global Competitiveness. His research focus includes information and knowledge management for sustainable development and innovation, knowledge acquisition for new business and industry development, and smart city and smart society. He has served as a senior advisor Silicon Valley startups and consulted for international companies including Disney, UBS, HP, Xerox, NCR, China Bank of Communications, and for government agencies. He has a Ph.D. from Stanford University, Master or Science degrees from Miami (FL), Stanford, and a Bachelor’s degree from Shanghai JiaoTongUniversity.

Alex FENG Chao

General Manager (China)

Extensive experience in private equity and project investments in both PRC and the US. As CEO at Beijing Zhenru Investment Management Co., Ltd., Chao was responsible for business strategy development and led investment and M&A projects including IT, financial services, education, real estate and oil & gas. Chao previously was the Director of Investment Banking for Guotai JunanSecurities where he was responsible for deal sourcing, valuation, due diligence, negotiation, risk control and execution. Began career in PRC Ministry of Education.

Lance Edling

Director, Construction Integration

As a Senior Project Manager for over twenty years, he has directed engineering, procurement and construction projects for numerous water and wastewater treatment facilities within China. This includes the system design work and the identification and integration of foreign developed advanced treatment technologies. Mr. Edling has taught Environmental Engineering at the United State Military Academy and possesses a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Environmental Engineering.

A Global Engineering Talents Network

G-DECK’s network of international CDR experts and their discussion groups will be transferred to the Institute to ensure sustained leadership in CDR innovation. 

 

Cooperation with Chinese experts will lead to new processes and technologies that can be commercialized.

 

The activities will attract increased Foreign Investment and participation.
